Julie McWilliams' Clay City (MPOR) Race Report (2006)
Another great day of racing at MPOR. We started our weekend off by
camping out Saturday night with Jennifer and Terry Roberts. Chilled
out by the camp fire all night telling stories, etc.
(Well the1st start I totally wiped out / over the bars / broke
visor on helmet / scratched my new goggles........ Thanks to Lauren
for picking up her competitors bike and Country Girl and Von for
stopping to make sure I was okay )
On the start (and restart) Lauren pulled the holeshot as I was
second going into the woods. I made the pass on Lauren as she was
stopped because of another rider in her way at the 1st mud hole so
I went on and didn't look back. Felt pretty good on the new RMZ250
as this was my first race with the new bike. My first lap was a little
bit challenging as I climbed the long / dusty hills / creek sections
as I was trying not to make any mistakes as I didn't know what kind
of lead I had on 2nd place until I wiped out in the slippery creek
section. Those slate rocks are very tricky! Took a few minutes to
get my bike turned around and then there's Lauren so I got my act
together and went on trying to keep the lead. Each lap seemed to
get better and faster with few or no mistakes. Loved the long up
hills as you could hammer up them and put some what of a show for
the spectators sitting there watching. I had a few hoot and holler
for me as I went up. Gotta love the specators! Pro riders started
to lap me on the 2nd lap as Marty Michels was the 1st to lap me then
here comes my lovely husband, McWilliams on a mission! Stayed out
of the way and kept my own race going. Thanks to the guys for being
polite when passing / lapping! I never saw the white flag as I finished
lap 3 and got the checkered flag, which was fine with me because
I was pretty much done anyways along with the sore gut from last
weeks
injury and I just wanted to finish the race! Great job to Lauren
for a good race and Country Girl for finishing the race! I really
enjoy racing with everyone out there!
Thanks to all the KOHRS/MPOR for another great race! This series
has been fun and can see improvement each and every race .......
Great group of people and riders!
I would thank my "Sponsors" like Marty did but the only "Sponsors"
I have are..........ME, MYSELF, AND I............. And my husband
David
McWilliams!
