Rider: Paul Whibley - Bike Overall Winner

Bike: Honda CRF 450

Round 6 of the Kentucky Hare Scramble series was held near Hyden in the Daniel Boone Trails. An senic area full of some flowing as well as demanding forestry tracks and trails.

The sign up process was a breeze and we were soon on the line waiting for the wave of the flag to signal the start. I got a good start and was into 2nd. After settling in and learning the lay of the land I took the lead. I was riding careful on the first lap as there were plenty of rocks hidden under the leaves and lurking in the shadows. I stalled the bike early in lap 1 and got into a brief battle with Marty Michels . I put a pass on him at the top of one of the big hills and retook the lead. I opened up a comfortable lead and maintained that the rest of the race. After 6 laps the chequered flag was waving and I took a good win.

There was some confusion after the race as it seemed some riders were directed around a bottleneck on one of the difficult hills, saving a couple of minutes and altering there position. The organizers were aware of the problem and were working to fix them as we loaded the boxvan. We headed north back to the Summers compound, leaving before the final results were out. From there its of to Canada to race a round of the World Enduro Championship.
