Race Report:
Kentucky Off Road Hare Scrambles Series (KORHS) - Round 6 The other major accomplishment for me this race was that I actually got to pass someone!! After years of moving over for the fast guys I finally got to put a pass on. Thank goodness the trail was wide enough that I didn’t take us both out! All foolishness aside, I really enjoyed the race. I know it wasn’t a challenge to those guys putting in sub-20 minute lap times, but it was nice to actually race the other bikes as opposed to just trying to survive. Thanks to Rick and Kent for keeping this thing running, and thanks to the folks at MPOR giving us a venue to race. Thanks to the sweepers who picked me up after a pretty nasty get-off (I think it was Brian69). My leg is black and blue from knee to toes after that one, and thanks to all of the very fast and professional front runners. Whibley passed me what seemed like 40 times in two hours as well as AW, and special thanks to Big Dave McWilliams who made a very clean pass on an uphill, gave me his patented arm-pump and “let’s go” then proceeded to nearly give me a concussion from all the roost his Suzuki was throwing. Thank goodness he wasn’t on a four stroke!!! All in all is was a great day and as usual a good time. Hopefully I’ll get another boost from MPOR2 and have a much better second half of the season. Now if I could just convince Flying Bob to schedule back-to-back races at MPOR to start next season!!! Finally, Thanks to God, it must be true that he has a special place for children and fools (like me). Thanks to my wife for not throwing a fit when I left her at home days away from delivering our child, and huge thanks to Charlie and Tammy Hall for letting me soak up their shade and the camelback refills!! I’ll be out for 2 man and Saddleback, but can’t wait to meet up with the KOHRS crew at Big Hill. Ride On!! Bill Meredith |
